Vacationing for 10 days at Siesta Key 2009
I live in Baltimore County, MD and am a husband and father of 2. I was first introduced to Network Marketing about 21 years ago when I was a distributor for NSA, selling water filters. Since then I have been involved with various “opportunities”. I put that in quotes because I wasn’t very successful at any of them. Most drained my money while I held onto the dream.
However, to be frank, I never blamed the opportunity or the product. I always knew that the problem was with me. It was something that I was doing wrong. About 7 years ago, I tried another opportunity and I used the power of the Internet to advertise for prospects. I was sick of trying to sign up my friends and family. That one worked to a small degree, but the costs of advertising eventually wore me down and I was forced to quit.
Last fall, as the economy began to fail, prices began to rise, and I was finding myself with less and less money at the end of the month I thought that it may be time to look for another network marketing opportunity. Not only did I need a change, but I sincerely believe that the economic crisis has created an unprecedented wave of opportunity. Millions of people, who never would have considered network marketing, are now open because they are uncomfortable and economic forces beyond their control have forced them to do something.
This time, before I joined another opportunity, I decided to get educated first. I did some research and the first thing that I stumbled upon was Anne Sieg’s “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing”. I was so excited while reading that free e-book, that after about half way through reading it I purchased her other e-book, “The Renegade Network Marketer”.
In “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing”, Ann wrote about a lot of things that really resonated with me. Mainly I liked her concepts of Attraction Marketing and monetization. I knew that Attraction Marketing worked because I had tried it before when I advertised for prospects on the Internet(with a decent degree of success) and I had seen others use it successfully.
In fact Attraction Marketing has been used successfully without the internet for years. I watched a local Maryland guy advertise in my local paper, the Baltimore Sun, for over a year while he built his network marketing business. Recently, I picked up a copy of Success Magazine and he was featured in there as the top producer for his company. He talked about the industry, the tremendous change in his lifestyle, and he mentioned how he was able to recently pay cash for a sweet red Ferrari. Looking back, I now wish I had responded to one of his ads.
Anyway, back to Anne’s book. The other concept that I loved was the concept of monetization. It is such a simple concept that after I learned about it I had one of those “Why didn’t I think of that” moments. That was because I then knew that if I had been able to monetize my advertising efforts 7 years ago I would have been able to stay in the game.
Had I known about monetization when I advertised before, I firmly believe that I would have had totally different results. The problem most people have with a business is capitalization. They have to buy product every month to stay qualified and they have to recruit others, but they aren’t recruiting fast enough to cover their expenses and they quit. Attraction marketing coupled with monetization solves both of those problems.
Soon after reading Anne’s book, I found and purchased Mike Dillard’s “Magnetic Sponsoring”. I have since purchased several of Mike’s books too. I highly recommend that you get on Anne or Mike’s lists by at least getting the free information they offer. Either one of them will help you immensely.
As for me, I am now enjoying building my network marketing business an easier way. I don’t have to try to convince my friends and family who were not really interested anyway. I have people coming to me that are interested in a change in their lifestyle. That alone makes this business easier. I found a non-MLM company that has allowed me to build a residual income. My primary company teaches a variation of the old methods, but I couldn’t get that to work for me. I tried it and I am sure others have success with it but I like my method of blogging, PPC, online videos, and E-zines better.
